Some Helpful Tips For Your Move
Reduce the stress of moving!
We hope these tips will help your planning. And avoid unforeseen delays or any damages. We are an Okanagan BC moving business you can trust. When you need such professional movers, Anywhere Moving is here to help.
- Spread your packing tasks over several weeks before the final moving day in case you are planning to do the packing all by yourself.
- Leave paint that hasn’t expired for the new owners. Dispose of all old paint at your local paint recycling centre.
- Notify all the pertinent government agencies, banks, water, telephone, gas, cable and internet providers of your moving date well before your next billing date. You may be required to disconnect the service before the new owners move in and contract for new services at your new location.
- Tape all the packed boxes on the top and label them with the room at the new location.
- Number the boxes as well and keep a list of the numbers as you go along.
- Gather all small parts and screws from any disassembled furniture, label, and put these in a plastic bag. Keep these separate from the furniture as they could fall over during transport. Putting them in the top drawer of a dresser is a good idea!
- Don’t pack flammable items such as cleaning and corrosive fluids, aerosol cans, propane tanks, and paint or thinners. These cannot go into a moving truck! They need to be transported separately in your car.
- Defrost and clean your fridge 1-2 days before your move.
- Empty gas from lawnmowers and other power tools and take to your local disposal site.
- Prepare a box of essentials for the car, which may include toiletries, a change of clothes, snacks, scissors, dish soaps, dishcloths, towels, cutlery, garbage bags, computers, and important papers.
- Transport all prized possessions such as jewelry, money and other valuables in your own car.
